There are two reasons why Fast Fridays motorcycle racing at Auburn's Gold Country Fairgrounds is a month behind its four-wheel brethren in starting the 2010 season, which starts tonight at 8 (gates open at 6:30) ... First, the weather is better in May, and track promoter David Joiner said he hates rainouts and disappointing fans ... The second has to do with cow dung ... "Every year in late April, there's a rodeo at the fairgrounds, and it takes a while to, uh, clean up the track," Joiner said.

Peter Graf lives about a mile from the course, so he's excited to ride in the Sacramento Grand Prix, a pro criterium-style cycling race that will serve as a prelude to the Tour of California ... Kathleen Inzerillo ... Kathleen Inzerillo, a book lover who shared her literary enthusiasm during a long career at the Sacramento Public Library, died April 22 of ocular melanoma. She was 65 ... Mrs. Inzerillo retired in 1999 as an administrator after 33 years with the city-county library system. She started as a clerk shelving books and climbed the ranks while working at the downtown, McClatchy, Natomas, Arden-Dimick, Colonial Heights and Belle Cooledge branches.
